CHAIRPERSON

Robin Lyons

Robin's work with Vine Maple Place fulfils her passion for advocacy for women, community involvement, and seeing lives transformed. She has a degree in behavioral science and has held a number of leadership positions in churches and nonprofit organizations, including a staff position at a domestic violence agency. Robin and her husband, Jeff, have four children and are grandparents. They attend Cedarcreek Covenant Church in Maple Valley.

Michelle Lang

Michelle has a background in accounting and bookkeeping and serves as CFO of the construction company that she and her husband, Curtis, have operated in Maple Valley for eighteen years. She is also CFO of the company’s subsidiaries. Because her desire is to help homeless single women provide safe, healthy, stable homes for their families, Michelle has been a supporter and volunteer of Vine Maple Place since it began. She and her husband attend New Community Church.

Lynne Mayer

Lynne has worked for the Kent School District for over 16 years. Because she has been a single mother herself, single moms have a special place in her heart. As a volunteer, Lynne has served as a mentor at Vine Maple Place, works with Koinonia of Washington, and has done humanitarian service in Nicaragua. Lynne married Gary Mayer in 1999, and they attend Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in Maple Valley.

Radha Ahlstrom

Radha has both a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in sociology and worked for ten years in customer relations before serving in leadership for Bible Study Fellowship. She also volunteers with the elderly. She has traveled extensively and lived in many countries with her retired husband, Hal, and supports charity work in India where she is from. Radha and her husband attend St. George Episcopal Church in Maple Valley.

 

Mark Clawson

Mark has a degree in chemistry, and after working for Weyerhaeuser for eighteen years now serves as Senior Project Manager at Tectura, an information technology consulting firm. Mark has volunteered in children's and men's ministries and as a soccer coach, and he has also volunteered for the food bank and Girl Scouts of America. Mark and his wife, Selina, have two teenage daughters and attend Maple Valley Presbyterian Church. 

 

Loretta Green

Loretta has worked as for QFC as bookkeeper for one and a half decades. She raised her two boys alone for eight years and understands the struggles single mothers have with fear, guilt, worry, and lack of child support. Loretta’s volunteer service includes humanitarian trips to New York’s Ground Zero in 2001 and to New Orleans in October 2005. She married Mike Green in 2002, and they attend Real Life Church.

 

Monica Haines Bavendam

Monica is a Board Certified Family Physician who has practiced in Washington State for over 25 years. She is interested in the health, welfare, and stability of families and recognizes that transforming homelessness begins locally. She has held leadership positions with the State Osteopathic Medical Licensing and Disciplinary Board and the State Osteopathic Medical Association. She has also served as a medical missionary in Nicaragua. Monica attends Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church.

 

Marie Leaf

With a B.A. degree in Applied Sociology, Marie has volunteered for several nonprofit organizations and has served on a number of humanitarian trips, both foreign and domestic. She has worked as support staff for the United Parcel Service for 31 years. Marie attends Alliance Bible Church where she is a deaconess.

 

Kim Potter

Kim and her children were homeless when they came to Vine Maple Place. While in the program, she worked full time and also completed her Master's in Teaching degree. No longer homeless now, she and her children are stable and able to give back to the community. Kim and her family attend Hope Fellowship Church.

 

Scott Ridge

Scott has a B.S. degree in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering and is an executive at Alaska Airlines in the Flight Operations division. He and his wife, Kathi, have been active in church leadership, have two grown sons, and were foster parents for several years. They currently attend Cornerstone United Methodist Church.

 

Tamara Rodocker

Tamara has traveled to many places throughout the world, including London, where she attended college, and Germany, where she honed her German language skills. She has a B.A. degree in English from the University of Washington and worked for a number of years as sales rep for several U.S. companies. She has volunteered as a leader for Boy Scouts and Campfire, as a teacher to prison inmates, and raised funds for a program for the disabled. Tamara and her husband, Phillip, have two children and attend Cornerstone United Methodist Church.
