Vine Maple Place has achieved the Platinum Seal of Transparency Rating on Candid (formerly Guidestar), the world’s largest source of information on non-profit organizations. This rating puts Vine Maple Place in the top 0.1% of charities nationally in terms of transparency.

The Platinum Seal of Transparency indicates that Vine Maple Place shares clear and important information with the public about our goals, strategies, capabilities, achievements and progress metrics as well as in-depth financial information.

Established 2000: Celebrating 26 Years of Impact

Vine Maple Place was founded in 2000 when nine churches in Maple Valley came together to help homeless single mothers and their children find a safe place to live and recover from homelessness. What began as transitional housing for a few families has grown into a comprehensive program that is serving over 1,400 homeless families in 2024.

In 2012, we launched the Stable Families model—an evidence-based, integrated approach to helping families overcome homelessness. This model has transformed lives, reducing the time families spend in services from 18 months to just 5.5 months, while cutting costs by 79% per family. It helps families who are homeless or just days away from eviction. Most importantly, 91% of families remain housed one year after completing the program.

With the opening of our Family Hope Centers in Maple Valley and Kent, we’ve expanded our reach and increased our capacity to serve more families in crisis. These centers are more than just buildings—they are places of hope, healing, and transformation. Here, parents find the support they need to rebuild their lives, and children discover the stability they need to dream of a brighter future. Every family deserves a safe, stable home, and at Vine Maple Place, we are committed to walking alongside them on their journey to lasting hope.

Our Leadership Team

William Splitgerber

Chief Executive Officer

William brings more than 25 years of leadership experience in nonprofit and humanitarian organizations to Vine Maple Place. Throughout his career, he has worked to strengthen organizations and develop programs serving vulnerable children and families in communities facing crisis. His experience spans strategic leadership, operations, and organizational growth in the United States and internationally. William is passionate about building strong organizations that help families move from homelessness toward stability and a brighter future.

Myda Magana

Chief Development Officer

Myda brings more than 25 years of nonprofit leadership experience and is passionate about connecting generous people with opportunities to make a lasting difference. Since joining Vine Maple Place in 2016, she has helped grow the organization’s philanthropy efforts and supported two capital campaigns. Her experience includes major gifts, donor engagement, annual giving, and fundraising leadership. Myda feels privileged to witness how God works through generous hearts to bring hope, stability, and brighter futures to homeless families.

Miriam Krause, CPA, MAcc

Fractional Chief Financial Officer

Miriam brings a passion for helping mission-driven organizations build strong foundations for lasting impact. A Washington State–licensed CPA with a career focused on nonprofit finance, she works alongside organizations to create the financial systems and clarity needed to grow with confidence. At Vine Maple Place, Miriam helps strengthen the financial foundation behind the work, supporting a healthy and sustainable organization so the team can remain focused on serving homeless families.

Perry Shaw

Chief Operating Officer

Perry brings a deep commitment to addressing poverty and homelessness, shaped by both personal and professional experience. With nearly 20 years of leadership experience in healthcare, supportive housing, and social service organizations, he is passionate about building strong teams and organizations that better serve people and communities. Perry earned his Master of Social Work with a focus on poverty and homelessness and brings a people-centered approach to his work at Vine Maple Place.

Julia Patterson

Human Resources Director

Julia brings more than 35 years of experience in business, nonprofit, and healthcare leadership, along with a lifelong commitment to Christian ministry and serving others. In 2017, she felt called to serve homeless families at Vine Maple Place, first as a volunteer before joining the staff. Today, Julia brings her passion for people and her experience in both business and ministry to building a healthy, mission-driven workplace where staff can thrive as they serve families working toward stability and a place to call home.

Sherry Maple

Chair

Sherry has a BBA and is a former Starbucks Executive, specializing in technology and brand management. She lives in Maple Valley, WA, and joined the board in September 2022.

Brenda Weber

Vice Chair

Brenda has a B.A. in Elementary Education and is Senior Vice President of Human Resources at Costco Wholesale. She lives in Maple Valley, WA, and re-joined the board in June 2024.

Kim Pratt

Secretary

Kim has a BA and JD from the University of Puget Sound. She is a partner at Madrona Law Group, PLLC where she represents cities. She lives in Renton, WA and joined the board in June 2024.

Dan Wilton

Treasurer

Dan is a graduate of Pacific Coast Banking School, University of Washington, and is co-owner of Entellic Corporation, a software engineering company. He lives in Covington, WA, and re-joined the board in September 2024 (former Co-Vice Chair and Treasurer).

David Bluhm

David is the President of Lamda Inc. (dba Plunk), providing advanced analytics for residential real estate. He lives in Issaquah, WA and joined the board in May 2022

Nicki Keener

Nicki graduated from University of WA Business School and is a member of the Association of Bankers. She is Regional Credit Approver, Commercial Banking for KeyBank and has been in banking for over 32 years. She lives in Seattle, WA and joined the board in December 2022.

Josh Bean

Josh has a BS in Business Admin. and MS in Technical Communication. He has worked in business and higher education for 18 years and is currently with Amazon.com. He lives in Maple Valley, WA, and joined the board in May 2024.

Jon Aguirre

Jon has a B.S. in Construction Management and is self-employed in Property Management. He lives in Sammamish, WA and re-joined the board in June 2021 (former Chair).
