Maple Valley, WA — August 12, 2026. Vine Maple Place today announced the appointment of William Splitgerber as Chief Executive Officer. He assumed the role on July 20, 2026. Vine Maple Place is a Christian nonprofit working with homeless single parents and their children to break the generational cycle of homelessness, one family at a time.
Splitgerber is an accomplished leader with more than 25 years of executive-level experience guiding faith-based, humanitarian, and mission-driven organizations through growth, stabilization, and complex operating environments in the United States and internationally. His career spans for-profit and nonprofit entrepreneurship and leadership, with experience in housing stability, family support, organizational growth, and complex international operations. He has held leadership roles with Habitat for Humanity affiliates and founded Gateways2Life, a nonprofit serving displaced and vulnerable populations during the European refugee crisis.
A faith-centered and mission-driven executive, Splitgerber brings a strong record of translating strategic vision into mission-aligned growth, expanding organizational reach, scaling multi-site operations while maintaining program quality and outcomes, building philanthropic and community relationships, and exercising strong financial stewardship. This experience positions him to help VMP grow sustainably, strengthen organizational effectiveness, and deepen its impact for families.
"I am deeply honored to join Vine Maple Place and serve alongside a team that has faithfully reflected Christ's love by helping single-parent families move from crisis toward stability, hope, and a stronger future," said Splitgerber. "I look forward to building on the strong foundation established over the past 26 years and working alongside our staff, Board, donors, churches, and community partners to expand our impact and help even more parents and children build stable and thriving futures."
The Board of Directors selected Splitgerber following a comprehensive national search. He succeeds Michelle Frets, whose 16 years of dedicated leadership strengthened Vine Maple Place, expanded its capacity to serve families, and helped establish a strong foundation for its future.
"On behalf of the Board, I want to express our deep gratitude to Michelle for her many contributions to Vine Maple Place," said Sherry Maple, Chair of the Vine Maple Place Board of Directors. "Her leadership helped expand VMP's reach and impact while fostering a distinctive 'Culture of Care' for both the families we serve and our staff. We are grateful for the strong foundation she leaves for VMP's next chapter."
"William brings the strategic vision, executive experience, proven ability to scale organizations for greater impact, and a deep commitment to families that the Board believes VMP needs for its next chapter," Maple said. "We were inspired by his ability to pair bold vision with disciplined execution, build trusted relationships, and strengthen organizational capacity while remaining deeply rooted in mission. We are excited to partner with William as VMP builds on its strong foundation, reaches more families, and helps even more parents and children achieve lasting stability and break the generational cycle of homelessness."
